Objective: This course is to present an overview the application of structure elucidation and synthetic methods to organic chemistry. Also, this course focuses intensely on synthetic organic chemistry including organic functional group transformations, mechanisms, designing efficient syntheses in the field. This course also introduces the students to new methods which will enable them to understand current literature.
Content: Stereochemistry, Carbocations, Carbanions, Free Radicals, Carbenes, and Nitrenes, Aliphatic Substitution, Organometallic Substitution, Aromatic Substitution, Aliphatic, Alkenyl, and Alkynyl Substitution, Addition to Carbon–Hetero Multiple Bonds, Eliminations, Rearrangements.
